Matter,Sox will fold like the bad news bears in the playoffs. You can see pedro
is like a dear in the headlights when it starts to count.

It’s always dumb to bring in the best closer in the game, I agree.

In case you don’t follow the Yankees, “Mario” (is that Soto?) had converted
19 out of 20 save opportunities. Try to watch some games if you’re going to
pretend to be a baseball fan. That passed ball was clearly Posada getting
crossed up. Rivera just wasn’t sharp, that’s all. You’re right, he used to
be the best closer and he still is among the three best closers in baseball.
I’ll take that chance with him any day. Giving a guy who has converted 95%
of save opps isn’t blind faith. It’s managing and playing the odds. Going
with Benitez is playing hunches.

I am definitely not a Joe Torre fan (because this Yankee team can run
on auto-pilot), but Benitez is the kind of guy who gets rattled
easily. Even though he only gave up one hit, the stolen base and pass
ball had the tying run on third. I’ll always take a proven, clutch
Rivera to get the 3rd out of an inning. Even he he gives up a hit,
you can live with it whereas if Benitez gives up the hit, you would be
second-guessing Torre all night long.

He still is the best closer. Only ones that I’d take with him are Smoltz and
Gagne. Certainly not Benitez.

You sure about that?

And you still stand by this after today’s game?
