Islanders are struggling badly. No production up front, lots of defensemen that
can play D and move the puck.
Gill & Samsonov for Scratchard & Janne Niinimaa
Scratchard is big, tough center Bruins need, Niinimaa instead of Hal a huge
Too much to give up?
Mark steele 2014-07-01 22:37:11
I think that it is time for Samsonov, I am getting sick of watching him
dipsy doodle around with the puck and then turn it over. Maybe use him to
try and get Comrie from the Oilers.
Buck naked 2014-07-01 22:37:14
Here’s one for thought….Poti and Carter from Rangers for Sammy and Gill
Clarky 2014-07-01 22:37:19
I like it. Mind you I never wanted them to get rid of Carter in the first
place to this day I think Harry should have paid him.
Do you think he would want to come back?
Poti could add some punch to the PP but I wonder about his skills in his own
I’d miss Sammy but Gill just drives me nuts, year after year you think he is
gonna break out and year after year …bla..
Bs fan 2014-07-01 22:37:22
I really hope Gill gets traded. Every time he’s on the ice he is making
brutal mistakes. I havent seen him make one nice pass and he ALWAYS gets
beaten to the outside in a 1 on 1 situation. Whenever he gets the puck he
either dumps it off the boards or ices it. TERRIBLE defenceman in my
books..I’d like to see him go, maybe to Edmonton in a deal for Comrie. I
agree with all about Sami..Dipsy doodling around all the time and coughing
up the puck.. Sami and Gill for Comrie would be a good deal in my books..
Mark defilippi 2014-07-01 22:37:27
I agree with moving Gill…He has been a pylon out there this year. I think
that the Bruins thought that Jillson was really going to move the puck
better than he has so far as well. He has been fine back there although
defensively he is still looking like he is 23.
I would like to see Ninimaa he in Boston, but not for Sammy. It seems like
his line is finally getting what we need out of LaPointe. Maybe old buddy
Mike down on The Island will take Gill and a minor leaguer for ninamaa.
OC could have gone easy and signed Berard. I agree maybe not worth 2.51M,
but he certainly would have looked good on the PP right about now.
Damon 2014-07-01 22:37:29
I’d hate to give up Sammy, but I definitely wouldn’t mind upgrading our D.
Imagine how funny it would be though if we kept Samsanov and watched what he
could do against Gill. Talk about making somone look foolish!
We do have one extra forward and we should probably trade a forward and Gill
to upgrade our D. I don’t know if I like giving up Samsanov though. Maybe
I’m just being stingy, but he has a knack for coming up with big goals late
in the game. I really like seeing him and Zinovjev play together. Besides if
he keeps playing like he did last night then his offensive production will
Terry tomasi 2014-07-01 22:37:32
I guess I’m the only one here that doesn’t want to trade Samsonov. I don’t
know if everyone one is aware but Samsonov has never been known for his
defensive abilities. Why is everyone all over him now? I don’t get it.
Edmonton would never be able to afford Sergei and why would you want to
trade him to a conference rival in the Islanders?!?!?!?!? IMO, no way do
you trade him. Although I’m all for trading that lump of poo Gildo!
Buck naked 2014-07-01 22:37:34
Believe you mean the Rangers ….if your referring to Poti and Carter.
Is Sammy scoring?
Tboglarski 2014-07-01 22:37:45
Skills in his own end are limited. Poti wouldn’t be much of a step up from
Terry tomasi 2014-07-01 22:37:53
Nope, meant the Islanders as someone mentioned Scatchard & Niinimaa
Then with that logic we might as well trade Joe as he has the same number of
goals as Sergei and while we’re at it let’s also trade Murray as he only has
2 more goals that Sergei.
Tboglarski 2014-07-06 05:05:20
I’d feel bad about trading Samsanov too. But you have to give value to get
value. The Bruins really need a top 2-way defenseman. And they can’t afford to
just add someone who will put up points like Berard or Poti or Ozilinsh. They
are not strong enough defensively to afford that type of defenseman for 20+
minutes a night.
Thezs2335 2014-07-06 05:05:23
Last year everybody said the team would
go nowhere when Sammy was out. Now
with just 20 some games its dump him??
Granted his moves are known by now, but
there is no reason to trade him UNLESS
the return is top notch. If any trades happen it should include Gill.
The D on this team needs to be shaken up. How many goals have been
players were standing at the crease and there was not a Bruins around
with the b**** to knock them on their a**. I agree with T. Tomasi, no
way touch Sammy.
By the way, I still say take the “C” from
Thornton, and give it to a lead by example
player. PJ is the one of the only ones that shift after shift is a pain
in the a** as a checker. Think about this. Shorthanded goals by Rolston.
How many did PJ set up
by his hard work? Just a thought, but it has to be taken away from Dumbo
HAPPY HOLIDAYS…….2003……TO ALL!!!!!
Buck naked 2014-07-06 05:05:30
How many points does Sammy have?
Terry tomasi 2014-07-06 05:05:33
Samsonov – 15 points
Murray – 20 points
Thornton – 24 points
The point being, just because someone is a little behind last years
production, doesn’t mean you trade him. Gonna trade the whole frikkin team?
Don 2014-07-06 05:05:36
You feel bad about trading Sammy, your a real hypocrite,as you have been
crapping on Sammy all season long. Now that we don’t have Stumpel to
c*** on it appears that you need another “whipping boy” to take the heat
for the players who have forgotten what their role is on this team and
for a coach who is starting to get out coached early in the season.
“And they can’t afford to just add someone.” Sounds like are you the
team accountant who is bitter about how much Sammy got in his contract
this year, therefore the team can’t afford anything else. Sammy must
have some big bonus clauses for points this year. Off course if you
trade him, you can get rid of his salary.
Yeah, like we really need to trade Sammy an almost 100 point production
player and +43 lifetime player for Scatchard a 22 point average, and
-24 lifetime player. Give your head a shake. We already have too many
of those types of players on this team already.
“But you have to give value to get value.” Now does that cliche
statement really make any sense, if you are just trading values then
what the heck are you gaining, the ability to prove you can trade, a
purpose of a trade is always to get an increase in value for the team.
What we need is a pair of players who can compliment Samsonov not
detract from him. Opposition coaches can defense the Samsonov line
easily as they don’t have to really cover the defensemen, as the chances
that they will score is not a great threat, nor do you really have to
cover Lapointe. An oppostion coach can then afford to put 2 or even 3
guys on Sammy, cause no one else with him other than Bergeron can be
any type of scoring threat. How many times this year has Samsonov set
up Lapointe in a scoring lane and Lapointe has actually scored? Also ask
yourself this question how many times has Sammy had the puck and found
no one in the clear nor anyone in a scoring lane to pass to, from what
I have seen this season far to many times. Lapointe needs to be replaced
on this line by someone who can put the puck in the net, but if the
replacement player scores alot we gonna have to pay Sammy them bonus
This coach needs to get the defense improved and that must happen very
soon, as from the penthouse to the outhouse is a matter of 3-4 loses in
a row. The defense are already getting into the old bad habits early in
this season of not clearing the zone when they HAVE TO nor are the
defense playing consistent smart or sound positional (covering their
man in front of the net)in our end of the ice.
While we have improved on our faceoff’s, we are playing really poorly
short handed and on the power play. That I blame on the coach as we have
the same players we had last year doing these duties and we were close
to the top in those categories. It is becoming obvious very early that
special teams are not his forte.
Buck naked 2014-07-06 05:05:39
Nope but we ain’t gonna win the cup with these guys and we gotta trade value
to get value. If we need to offer up something to upgrade the team then IMHO
Sammy is that player. Can’t think of anyone else that O’C can use for bait
but perhaps you can.
Clarky 2014-07-06 05:05:43
We aint gonna win the cup period.
I mean we could have a hot playoff run like Washington,Buffalo, Carolina or
Anaheim but win the cup, h*** I don’t even dream about that any more.
Final 4 would be nice.
This team needs 2 studs on D one of which has to be a good point man oh and
an perhaps a centre that can actually win big face offs.
Tboglarski 2014-07-06 05:05:46
No need to get personal English major.
..>Yeah, like we really need to trade Sammy an almost 100 point production
75 points is Sammy’s career best. I guess in some third world countries or
parallel universe that’s almost 100. Scatchard had 27 goals last year as a
checking-line center. But the idea was to get Niinama.
See, Einstein, Samsonov is a left wing, Niinama a defenseman. Bruins
don’t have real good defensemen, hence they NEED a good one. This is where the
ever difficult concept of “value to get value” comes in.
Guess you’ve watch more games than me this year (I missed 1). Sammy must have
set up Lapointe a bunch of times that game.
Also like that coaching strategy of putting 3 guys on Sammy. Yeah, that happens
often in the NHL.
Any idea what my salary is?
Mark steele 2014-07-06 05:05:56
Samsonov and Lapointe have the same number of goals so far.
Mratx 2014-07-06 05:06:30
I think they should talk to Pittsburgh about D*** Tarnstrom. He’s making $1.1M,
so the Pens will probably deal him for a couple of so-so prospects just to get
rid of the salary. He’s reasonably solid defensively, very good on the power
Pre_scullerjay 2014-07-06 05:06:40
This isn’t an upgrade you might as well not make it. If you think
Sammy is having a slow start take a look at Carter.
Pre_scullerjay 2014-07-06 05:06:43
The problem that I’d like to see improved is in the defensive zone.
Berard would not have fixed this.
Pre_scullerjay 2014-07-06 05:06:47
Your not the only one. I wouldn’t trade him either especially with
what has been “put on the table”….especially Carter!?!? Although I
do understand the first proposal, I did not understand the reasoning
for the second… 4 years older, not as good production, etc.
Bruins72 2014-07-06 05:06:55
I wouldn’t trade for Carter. Hasn’t he kind of sucked since he left Boston?
I’m all for ditching Gill but we’d need a big return if we were going to
Tboglarski 2014-07-06 05:07:20
Rather, he would escalate it.
Tboglarski 2014-07-06 05:07:23
Yes, Carter hasn’t set the league on fire since leaving the Hub. But for the
Harry bashers, he’ll always be (like Allison) another great player Harry
Bruins72 2014-07-08 22:08:36
His salary doesn’t sound like quite so much now but I remember at the time
thinking he was asking for way to much. He wanted more than he had proven
himself worthy of. Who knows how things might have gone if he had been kept
here but I wouldn’t give up much to bring him back.
