Behind the back shot?
Alright you impotent little prick I'll tell you why. Because league
play has less risks and less rewards, monetarily speaking. You're not
going to win some cash or a trophy playing in a league. Believe it or
not some of us find competition exciting and the more you risk the
more exciting it is. Losing a few league rating points one week that
can be made up from the same guy the very next week is less
challenging.
Because league play just consists of you playing with the same people
over and over and never venturing into other regions to play in
tournaments with other people.
Because in tournament play there is a ref/umpire on hand to keep
unscrupulous little geeks like you in check.
Some people don't have time to sit around and read a magazine at their
clubs. They play.
Some people want to support the USATT as a governing body to help the
sport. While others just want to sit back and bitch about every little
thing that's not perfect.
The extra $28 bucks isn't half a weeks "salary" for some people.
So your assertion that there is "no benefit whatsoever" is incorrect.
Sign up for the $12 level and then try to play in a tournament. You
might see the benefit then.
