He's right, of course. I usually ignore "Sjan" (who uses many aliases but
then posts the same stuff, over and over, making his postings obvious to
spot), while recently engaging Rick Anderson of Vancouver (Chico) only
because he challenged me to a match.

I may have to bring out the "Don't feed the trolls" sign again!

As you can see, some people simply need to attack others. As the only person
who works for USATT willing to be a part of this newsgroup, I'm the natural
target for the resident trolls. But you have to consider the source of the
attacks. We have three regular trolls here. I think most of us know who they
are.

It is an interesting phenomena. I've been to other newsgroups, and they all
seem to have resident trolls. It's simply a place where a few disfunctional
and mean-spirited people can say things that, if they said it in real life,
they'd either be committed or beat up. Suffice to say that these very same
trolls would never have the guts to say these things except when hiding
behind a keyboard, where they can let their true character show without fear
of retribution. Some of us have met some of these trolls in real life, in
person, they are quite different - at least on the outside. It's only a
newsgroup like this that allows us to see what they are really thinking.
Sometimes it's rather chilling. I'd never met an admirer of Hitler before I
came to this newsgroup (strange place for pro-Nazi ramblings!), and it's
sort of a badge of honor that his most outspoken supporter here regularly
goes after me (including an ignored posting this morning).

Isn't it nice when someone attacks you publicly while similtaneously
wearing, in essense, a big sign around his neck that proclaims himself an
idiot?
