NBC's Baseball Legacy: Brand New Yahoo! Club

On October 9, 1989, an era came to an end when NBC Sports televised
its last Major League Baseball game. Prior to Game 5 of the 1989 NLCS,
NBC aired Major League Baseball in some shape or form since 1947.
Before 1990 (when CBS and subsequently, FOX took over), NBC had been
the "Baseball Network" in another sense; they were the network that
had the greatest investment in baseball, that paid it the most
attention, and showed the "Game of the Week" every Saturday. Most of
the innovations in baseball coverage before 1990 came out of NBC.
NBC also fielded a string of legendary broadcasters like Vin Scully,
Curt Gowdy, Joe Garagiola, Tony Kubek, Bob Costas among others.
The tradition is here, the memories are waiting.
