I think you give these guys way too much credit for fiscal responsibility.
A good percentage of athletes wind up broke a few years out of the game. It
the very same guy that doesn't have the human sense not to throw a ball at a
players head is the stupid ass that would say, "Oh well what's a couple of
million dollars? There's more where that came from, because I'm so damn
special. I think actual assault could actually be handled in a criminal
court, but the burden of proof would be pretty high. You take one dangerous
guy that that is pretty wells suspected of malice and not just suspend, and
fine him, but stick him out in PeteRose and ShoelessJoeJackson Land. Not a
labor issue, my guess is that the union would be more gunhoe for that than
management.
