In the Times today....

So they are talking draft and the Rays are obviously in need of pitching,
right?

There a load of college arms availible - and that means pitchers ready to
play at the major league level...

The Rays? What are they thinking here? SHORTSTOP?!? Not just SHORTSTOP but
a SHORTSTOP coming of TOMMY JOHN SURGERY??!

CHrist, LaMar.... I thought you couldn't get any more stupid.... I was
wrong.

John,

You must be nuts. I haven't read the Times yet today but I will do so later
tonight. I just don't believe the Rays would be actually thinking about that
with Upton around the corner. Did Lugo get hurt last night or something??? And
are we in a pennant race and we need somebody short term to fill a gap?? Last I
checked, the answer to that is NO. Is it April 1 and you are having fun
trolling your own NG?? Something is not right.

They want to convert the guy to 2B or 3B...

The sick thing is Weeks was availible last year and they selected an OF
instead of him.... the perfect compliment to Upton in teh Infield and they
go OF...

You get any special treatment with the Rays as a season ticket holder? Like
getting to talk to management? After 7 years of no progress, I would think
their priorities in scouting have got to change.

I read that and that seems more plausible.

I have never asked. One thing I learned from being on the inside of a high
profile local business, you never know what is really going on. Chuck has
admittedly made some mistakes but I do not know how much constraint and
controls Vince has put upon him.

My biggest problem with this whole scheme is that even if we had the best GM
making the best decisions we are going to get caught up in the money game.
There is no way we can successfully compete long term against teams who can
spend so much more than we can.

The game needs an overhaul.
