Default What home field advantage ?

IMO, the 7 game series format...2 home-3 away-2 home only offers an
advantage if the series goes beyond 5 games.

The way the current format stands the other (non-home field) team actually
has the advantage with 3 home games...

Tentatively... the non-home field team can win one of the first two games
away then win three straight at home to win the series leaving the so called
"home team" out in the cold...so unless there is a game 5 the "home team"
has no real advantage...

what say you ?

I think a "more fair" approach might be to have game 5 back at game 1's
place, 6 - the other, then 7 and final back at game 1's place.

But, that could end up being disruptive, so I could easily see that being
nixed.

So yeah, my point earlier, and I guess most anyone's in having your first
two games "on the road" --- is to win one of those initial two "away" games.

I won't miss an inning, but admittedly my mind is at times elsewhere...

The home field advantage is only meaningful when both teams win all of
their home games. The moment the non-home team wins a game away, they
gain the advantage. If Tampa wins both at home, the Phils NEED to win
all 3 at home to have a chance.

[i]s there a home field advantage in the World Series?

According to Alan I. Abramowitz, there is.

In his recent article, "Is There a Home Field Advantage in
the World Series?", Abramowitz ****yzed the 76 World Series
games played under the current 2-3-2 home-away-home format
adopted in 1925. (The years 1943 and 1945 did not use this
format because of WWII travel restrictions and no Series was
played in 1994.) He found that teams playing the first two
games at home have won 58% of World Series played under this
format.

1. It is not fair that the result of the All-star game has anything at
all to do with world series home field advantage.

2. I think the best thing about having home field advantage is that the
first two games are at home. Game 1 is huge, and having your fans their
in greater numbers can have an affect on the outcome. Getting an early
lead in the series almost always tells you who's going to win it.

3. GO PHILLIES. Defy the curse of Billy Penn. Defy the home field
advantage. FIGHT!!
