Lightning are undefeated in road playoff games. And now, the first sweep in
their brief playoff history.

Gotta love it.

Looks like all the Habs fans that thought home attendance was a big deal,
were wrong.
They probably forgot how the Bolts sold something like 27,000 plus tickets
to a playoff game against the Flyers, way back in the days of the THUNDER
DOME!

And I guess the THUNDERSTICKS used by rabid Lightning fans, are cool,
despite what those Canadiens think, especially Gazette writer Jack Todd.

It's a brand new era in the NHL. It's great to see the Bolts fit into this
era very nicely.

No different than the era when Florida played for a Cup final a few
years ago. The syle of hockey isn't new. The players are still a mix
of Canadian, European, and a few American. The only new era is that
Tampa Bay has a good team now. They certainly make good on
opportunities when presented (ie. look at the terrible turnover
resulting in the second goal last night). They also got a bit lucky
(look at their first goal) at times. I still think the better team won.
And Montreal didn't help themselves with penalties (that is a young team
not being able to control emotion).

Good luck to the Bolts. They might do well. I am not sure how they
will match up with a Toronto/Philadelphia team. Better speed for sure
but certainly not as physical. Should be interesting.

There are two key differences between now and the Panthers' run back in the
mid-90s:

* The Panthers were a trapping team, and used that defensive success to
advance in the playoffs a la Minnesota and Anaheim last year.

* The Panthers were not the best team in their conference that year; in
fact, they were only a fourth seed.
