I'm sure they would be helpful in preventing "the yips". Blockers
have been used by orchestra musicians to steady the hands, by people
who's heart rates go sky high while public speaking, and by biathlon
athletes (the ones to cross-country ski then shoot targets) to steady
the hands for shooting.

As it becomes more and more difficult to catch the cheaters and the
drugs become more designer and safer to use, it will become necessary
to allow athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs. Otherwise it
will be only those with the best medical technology behind them who
will be winning competitions.

I know this is an unpopular view and it goes against the idea of sport
as healthful fair physical competition, but those days are pretty much
gone anyways. Welcome to the brave new world of sports.
