Houston owner wants Malone suspended

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets owner Les Alexander said he believes the NBA
should suspend Los Angeles Lakers forward Karl Malone for his physical play.

"The way he pushes people around is just wrong," Alexander said. "It's not
good for the sport. It's not good for the league."

Malone, who shrugged off the comments, said Alexander needs to stay an owner
and let him be a player.

"I wouldn't even know what he looks like," Malone said.

Yes, as a Rockets player was falling to the ground on his hip after
Malone stuck his butt in the guy's way.

I usually like Malone, but he was a thug on that play and a couple of
other ones.

I am the biggest Anti-Lakers fan in the world but come on, this is the
freakin' playoffs. Maybe the Rockets would have this series tied up right
now if they put even half the effort Malone has. Things will only get more
physical from here on out and I don't think Houston is up to the challenge.
Move out of the way, I think the Spurs will be able to match the intensity
just fine. They know what it's like to play physical and they won't be
crying after a game that it was too rough.

The previous night, when it was announced that Shaq O'Neal scored his
20,000th point, the fans in Sacramento booed. Then, to make matters
worse, a the game ball was defaced, presumably by a Sacramento fan.

The play I saw was where Malone rammed his elbow right into Yao's lower back
as Yao landed, shoving him to the floor. It was a blatently dirty play, and
I can't believe it wasn't a technical. I have no problem with physical play,
and I don't like a ton of fouls called, but that play ****ed.

No, not that time. I didn't think so at first, but after the 3rd or
4th replay I now think Malone did it deliberately.

I'm not saying he's the only player who did it, and I'm sure that some
Rockets mugged him or some other Lakers in that game. It might have
been some kind of payback. I'm just glad that nobody got hurt on that
play.
