Default Klatt or May?

Seems like similar contracts for each player.... personally I would have
kept Klatt over May.... opinions?

"How did...?" I like May over Klatt. I also like the fact that the
Crowmeister will no longer be able to put Klatt with the foreheads.

I don't particularly want either one, but I suppose foamy has a good point
in that May is willing to drop the gloves, making Klatt (and Langdon)
expendable. If I was in charge, though, a player should have at least
average hands and hockey sense to be on my time and none of these guys do
for me. And I find May agonizing to watch skate. And in some ways May
symbolizes the Iron Mike era which I'd just as soon forget- that was like
watching a bunch of amputees play hockey. So while I can see signing May for
depth, I hope he spends a lot of the year as a healthy scratch. Bring on
Jarko Ruutu.

I think May over Klatt was largely in aid of creating an environment where
Todd Bertuzzi will sign for less money and less chance of winning than he
might get elsewhere.

I think May over Klatt is largely a case of Burkie covering his ass,
so no one will realise he gave away a third round draft pick for a
totally useless player.

I think May will provide more excitement than Klatt ever could. I like
both players and I think they are both quality people. However I would
take May over Klatt just for entertainment value.

I'm not sure about totally useless but considering that Burkie let May go
for nothing in the first place and then bought him back for a pick, there
may be something to your thesis.

Hmmm...it sounds like Brad May may be the modern age Eddie Shack.

Indeed, and a good quote also.

The ironic thing about May replacing Brashear is that May came into
the NHL with some pretty lofty comparisons. Brashear was a no-name, a
goon with an unusual (for hockey) ethnic and social background. May
has long since put to rest any hopes that he would be one the game's
best power forwards and has settled for being a grinder/puncher.
Brashear, meanwhile, was turfed from the Canucks (or at least the
affections of this NG) on the basis (the fans impugne) of his
aspirations to advance from 4th line "energy" guy to maybe 2nd
line/2nd PP all-rounder, a la Rick Tocchet or (briefly) Chris Simon.

May is, nonetheless, exceedingly pleasant in interviews, and a guy who
really gives more than he should on the ice, considering his injury
history. You watch, anticipating that this or that hit could be the
one that cracks a wrist bone and puts him out for six weeks -- a
skating Chuck Wepner.

ah, this is why you've been asked to sit well back from the glass

distracting NHL players during game action with your feminine virtues- bad
fee, very bad

May was standing a few people behind me in a grocery store queue some years
back. I didn't speak with him directly but he was so open and approachable
that several folks took the opportunity to ask about the Canucks. The thing
that struck me is that he spoke with these individuals like neighbours, not
like your typical 'I'm too famous for words' player-fan discourse. He
appeared to be honestly interested in what they had to say.
