Default Free Volleyball Games

On Saturday June 19th, we are holding a free volleyball day where
teams, or anyone interested can come to our church and play against a
one-man team(Bob Holmes). He has won over 14,000 games and only lost
297 times. He has beaten professional sports teams (Dolphins,
Steelers, Redskins, etc), beach volleyball winners, and college teams.
I invite you to come and play him. The games begin at 2:00, and will
go until 5:00 or so. If you are interested, please email me at
Cat85jh@yahoo.com. We are looking for teams of 6 at the most.

Jarred Hallman
Valley Forge Baptist Temple
616 S. Trappe Rd.
Collegeville, PA 19426

(We are located right off of the Collegeville/Phoenixville exit of
422)

What "beach volleyball winners"? (who?)

and what exactly is a beach volleyball ball "winner"? (someone who
has won at least one rally scoring game to 11, in a 2 out of 3 match,
in pool play of a local ladies unrated???)

seriously

also, over 14,297 games means over 18 years (since 1986, from his
website), 365 days per year means he's played more than 2 games per
day EVERY day, that's dedication (hmmm, Wilt would be proud of that #)

also #2, I found this interesting on his website "He was encouraged to
join the Olympic team but refused because of the importance of getting
his message out"
I wonder who "encouraged" him (his friends or family, or someone from
USVB or the USOC)
And wouldn't being on the Olympic team actually help get his message
out to MORE people??? hmmm

last comment - notice I didn't question that he did actually win
against those teams, it's the most believable thing about his bio (all
good players should try playing 1 on X some time, it's great for your
own skills and not as difficult as you might think).

sorry if this comes off as mean - I do believe in his message(s)

Well I told Jarred that he might want to post in the group
after he sent me an email message. I did not worry
about who the beach volleyball winners were and agree
with you that the 1 vs x number is fun to play and
can be done. I always did it with one bounce and
3 hits for me, and won most of them. It is great
for your defense and the ball control. Highest
I have played against is two guys who were A
level or higher in DC and they insisted that
I only play half court. At 13 - 5 my favor
someone else finnally showed and and then they insisted
that I take the new person as my partner and start the
game over ;-)

I'm sure the message is very good, but Bob isn't quite as advertised.
I just watched the video on his site - beware it's about 10MB. ( PS:
My sound isn't working so I don't have a clue as to what was being
said! ) I also don't want to seem nasty, but I'll make a couple of
comments.

Yeah, umm he is definitely not an olympic level volleyball player.
I'd be curious as to who suggested it to him, perhaps it was his
family or something as you've said. I think every dig I saw on the
vid would be called as a scoop.

And the games were 1 vs perhaps 30. You know how complicated it gets
if you've ever used 4 passers? Imagine how confusing 30 players is.
And the 'professional teams' aren't VB teams. Looks like basketball
teams to me. Why should they be good at volleyball Bob?

I feel a little let down by this - I was expecting to see a vb player
playing against vb teams. It's smoke and mirrors unfortunately. Nice
approach though - it's certainly different (and I'm not making any
comment on his message at all). Just kinda misleading.
