2003 NCAA Women's Volleyball REGIONALS (Sweet 16)

No. 3 VB to Host NCAA East Regional

Gainesville, FL
The University of Florida volleyball team will host the 2003 NCAA
Tournament East Regional beginning Friday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. with No.
6 Kansas State vs. No. 10 Penn State. The No. 3 Gators will follow,
facing No. 12 Colorado State at 7:30 p.m. The winners of that match
will square off in the regional final at 6 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec.
13.

Florida is making its 13th straight regional semifinal appearance, and
this is the second straight season that the Gators have hosted the
East Regional.

Colorado State enters the regional semifinal with Florida with a 30-4
overall record after sweeping Maryland to advance to the third round
of the NCAA Tournament. The Rams earned the Mountain West's automatic
bid after winning the conference tournament. Colorado State swept both
George Mason and Maryland to advance to the regional semifinal.

The Wildcats of Kansas State enter the regional semifinal with Penn
State with a 30-4 overall mark after sweeping Arkansas in the second
round of the NCAA Tournament. Kansas State won the Big 12 Championship
and earned a No. 6 seed into the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats swept
Ohio and Arkansas to advance to the regional semifinal.

Penn State enters the East Regional with a 30-4 overall record after
defeating Pittsburgh 3-1 to advance past the second round. The Nittany
Lions won the Big Ten Championships with a win over Minnesota. Penn
State defeated Robert Morris 3-0 and Pittsburgh 3-1 to advance to the
East Regional semifinal match.

Tickets will be on sale this week at the University Athletic
Association Ticket Office. Until Friday, tickets must be purchased in
a package, which includes all three matches. Prices are $10 for
general admission, $6 for students and senior citizens, and $4 for
children 12 and under. Single-session tickets can be purchased
starting Friday for $7 for general admission, $5 for students and
senior citizens, and $3 for children 12 and under. For more
