Conveniently, the hockey season starts right after MLB ends and right
before the Redskins drop to 1-4. Is anyone in these groups a Washington
Capitalas fan?

Sure, although I'm not quite as fanatic about hockey as I am with football.
I was born and raised in the Boston area, so I usually start following the
Pats when the 'Skins inevitably tank. Same goes for the Celts and Sox,
though in those cases I usually have bailed on the Wizards and Nats two
weeks into the season :-) The Caps, however, give us the most realistic
hopes of any of the local sports teams actually going deep into the
playoffs!

Well, don't go overboard here... the Caps are great at getting to the
playoffs, but so far have been bad at actually advancing in the playoffs.

Their first regular-season game is 7:30 Friday night in Atlanta. We
don't play the hated Penguins until late December.

Last year they didn't leave enough in the tank, that's for sure. But
hopefully they learned from that experience. Looks like they've got a
couple more good young guys coming up through the system, too.

Gee, is there any hope that Leonsis might buy the 'Skins some day?

NFL rules now allow this kind of cross-ownership in the same city.

Unfortunately, Snyder will never willingly sell. Here's hoping for for
his bankruptcy/arrest. Perhaps they will let him share a cell with
Madoff.

Oh, and I don't think Leonsis has 1.5B cash lying around, especially
since he just bought the Bullets last year. He'd put together an
ownership group, of course, but the NFL still requires that the main guy
have a 30% stake.

Reviving this old thread so see if anybody still checks in here. Really
looking forward to this upcoming season and can't wait for the playoffs
to see how these moves turn out.

I still check in here whenever anyone posts. I'm encouraged too!
Here's hoping I can catch all the games on TV, because with the new ticket
pricing system I have gone to my last ever game at the phone booth.

I agree about the ticket prices. Fact of the matter is that
supply/demand dictated that prices would go up because the Caps became
sucessful the past few years

Yeah, I got a sticker shock too when I looked into getting some
tickets. It's a LOT more expensive that the Nats.

Caps have started the season 4-0-0 so of course it's going to be that
much harder to get tickets.
