Default "District reaches deal on stadium"

District reaches deal on stadium
The D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission and Major League Baseball
yesterday finalized a lease agreement designed to keep the Washington
Nationals in the District for at least the next 30 years, pending
approval of the lease by the D.C. Council.
at http://www.washtimes.com/national/20051209-110812-5487r.htm

The new members of the D.C. Council (Barry, Orange, etc) still will
vote NO.

Notice the caveat "Pending approval of the lease by the D.C Council.

Apparently there is 1 more vote needed to ensure passing. I heard Mark
Plotkin make the statement, "How would you like to be the person who
prevented Baseball from staying in Washington." The political implications
are enormous. Of course smoking crack had some enormous political
implications and not paying Federal Taxes has political implications and
look where that person is now. This is what is governing the city and
making the decision. Hoo boy!
