But as OBL himself once said, "When people see a strong horse and weak
horse, they naturally prefer the strong horse." Iraq was necessary.
Democracy is in an ideological war to the death with every other form
of government. China not withstanding, democracy has triumphed over
communism. Now it is time to take on despotism and militant islam. And
that means we have to do whatever is necessary to make it clear that
they are the weak horse and not democracy.

So while I'm for hunting down OBL and anyone else involved in 9/11,
the real war we are in is with the despotic regimes that actually
think they can stand up to the US.

I hate to say it, on a site that has nothing to do with world politics, but
you Mr Toast are one of the inbred, "we are mighty and everyone else is
wrong" American people that incite the "despotic regimes to stand up to the
US".

I am sorry that you are happy to live with being told what to do by people
who have as much intelligence as their daily fibre diet, but some people do
value their freedom. And, while I agree that a despotic ruler should be
'removed' from power, I believe there is a requirement from the people of
that country, NOT the whim of a country that does not agree with the
country's world stance.

And before you criticise me, there are several regimes that the US have
deposed in the last 100 years that were put in place by the people of that
country, democratically (although the current US govt is not one of them
;OP) , not by mindless, arrogant wankers who feel their way of life is right
and everyone else's is wrong. I don't have to name the several US backed
'rulers' who turned out to be more corrupt (and anti-US) than their
predecessors, or do I?.

I think this may be my first post on this newsgroup, and also now my last.

So I presume the theory here is because Clinton was so consumed with
the Lewinsky scandal he was unable to devote enough time other more
important issues, such as rising terrorist threat to US security. So
therefore its the conservatives' fault, and in particular Ken Starr
for perpetuating the Lewinsky scandal. Sounds like a huge reach. So
Clinton had to take on terrorism all by himself, couldnt delegate
responsibility to any of his staff members? Or if he did launch an
effort against terrorism it would have looked like a "wag the dog"
move, so he just couldnt do it, absolutely no alternatives, poor Bill
was beside himself. Come on, this is nonsensical. Dont follow the
lead of that great sage "Hoov" by pinning the blame on a particular
individual or political party. Its far more complicated than that.
